Madalyn Morgan has been an actress for over thirty years, performing on television and in the West End. She is a radio journalist, and has written many articles for newspapers, including The Daily Mail, The Islington Gazette, and the Leicester Mercury. This is her first novel.

Current Work:
Research and editorial for a publication profiling Prospective Parliamentary Candidates for the General Election 2009/10.

Presenting radio for www.raidersbroadcast.com - writing profiles and interviewing writers, politicians, actresses and musicians.

Having written her first novel she is trying to get a literary agent while writing the second of the WW2 quartet about The Dudley Sisters, called ‘Applause.'

The Islington Gazette, London. “A New Beginning for Smithfield” 4000 word centre page spread about the Bummarees who worked at the famous meat market – Islington Gazette 140th Anniversary Edition.

The Daily Mail. “No Rest For Jobless Actors” A response to the then Social Security Secretary, Harriet Harman, who said, all out-of-work actors were ‘resting’ and suggested New Labour cut their benefits.

The Daily Mail. “Open Risk” An article about Myra Hindley. A parole board suggested that Moors murderer Myra Hindley should be moved to an open prison; a prison where women (with children) were serving time for petty offences like non payment of poll tax or TV licences.

South London Guardian. “Cold Comfort For Drivers” Dangerous conditions caused accidents on the roads in Lambeth, South London, because they had not been gritted during severely icy conditions.

Leicester Mercury. “Women To The Fore” The history of the Olympics, the part women played in the 1900 games in Athens compared to the Olympics in Atlanta, in 1996.

The Daily Mail. “Cast Out Of Jobs” The closure of Simon Greys play ‘Cell Mates’ left cast and back stage staff facing unemployment when Stephen Fry went to France half way through the run. Was Fry ill, or was it that he had poor reviews for his portrayal of the spy George Blake?


Background and Experience

1950 - Born in Lutterworth, Leicestershire

1961 – 1966 Educated at the Lutterworth High School

1966 – 1969 Hairdressing Apprenticeship

1970 – 1974 My own salon - employing two qualified hairstylists and two apprentices.

1971 – 1973 Theatrical wig hire business – Providing wigs for shows at The Belgrade Theatre, Coventry and The Palace Theatre, Watford.

1974 – 1976 East 15 Drama College.

1976 – 2006 Worked as an actress in Repertory and West End Theatre, Radio, Television, Commercials and Film.

1992 – 2000 While temping (between acting jobs) I was offered a full-time job with a Research Company in London. Tasks included accounts/book- keeping, invoicing, credit control, data entry and writing research profiles.

2000 – I completed a writing correspondence course (to Novel) with The Writer’s Bureau, Manchester.

1998 – 2002 My first novel, 'Foxden Acres'
