The Madalyn Morgan Show
Work in progress to bring you interviews and music via the Radio. Meanwhile click on to http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tFgTQfBIRMs & http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EWcXYoUhaAk to see two 1 minute videos of me in the raiders studio. The videos were recorded by Claire, the controller of Raiders 2 who is also a great DJ and friend. Oh, and she is the founder of DARC. I'm being silly on the video. Sorry Claire, I don't normally ham it up. Or do I?

Madalyn has a great show every week.
Wednesday 12th March Claire Mansfield was back from the US to join Madalyn on her show to talk about her early pirate radio days, the beginning of Raiders
and what she's doing now!
Wednesday 13th of Feb 2008 Madalyn presented a St.Valentine's Day Special. I played special music, for special people and discussed the very special subject of Love. My show was a day early - but hey, it's never too early to tell someone you love them.
In January on Raiders 2 - Madalyn played great music, and profiled some great bands. During February Maddie has been meeting people and arranging interviews for March. Watch this space...

This week, I'll will be interviewing the man who had the vision, Mike Summers, Raiders Broardcast's producer. I'll be asking him why and how he started up London's first Internet Radio Staion; how he went from Pirate to RSL and then to Internet radio
and I'll be playing music from his first show in 1987
December 1st 2007
Rock legends Queen and Paul Rodgers have been in the recording studio for their first sessions together since their world tour of 2005/2006. Both singer/songwriter and founding member of Free/Bad Company Paul Rodgers and Brian May have been quoted on their websites as being "quietly excited" about the music that has been produced from this creative union.
May, Taylor and Rodgers got to gether and released a song specially for 46664. It was written by Roger Taylor and it was available as a free download in time for 1st December Saturday's AIDS HIV benefit concert.
Taylor's track, "Say It's Not True", originally came to light for the launch of the 46664 campaign back in November 2003. Taylor wrote the song as a gift to Mandela and performed it live for him for the first time with Brian May and Dave Stewart at the inaugural 46664 concert in Cape Town that month. The song carries the message that HIV AIDS is something that can affect any one of us no matter our sexual or racial status.
"By making the song available for free", says Taylor, "we hope to help Nelson Mandela with his campaign to get across the message that no-one is safe from infection. We have to be aware, we have to protect ourselves and those we love. The song follows the line of Mr. Mandela's personal message: it's in our own hands to bring a stop to this."
Queen's last new studio recording was back in November 1997 when May, Taylor and band's bassist John Deacon reunited to record "No-One But You" a song written by Brian May which was shaped by the early loss of the late Freddie Mercury to AIDS. The song was the last new work to be released by the band, issued as a single in January 1998.
IT IS A GREAT TRACK. The thing is you can't burn it so I can't play it on my show. I'll just have to buy it - if I can.
10th October, was all about the 80s - 1987 to be exact because it is 20 years since Raiders Broadcast first went on air.
Wednesday 3rd October I caught up with all the requests. I opened the show with Queen and 'Another One Bites The Dust' followed by The Move and 'Floewers In The Rain' - both had been requested. I played some of my favourite bands and celebrated a few artists that had birthdays. On the 3rd of October it was the 58th birthday of American singer and guitarist Lindsay Buckingham of Fleetwood Mac, so I did a profile on him and the band. It was also the birthday of John Perry Barlow (US poet, essayist, songwriter; lyricist for the Grateful Dead) - he was born in 1947 and James Fielder (bass player of Blood Sweat & Tears). It was a good show and a good night. Lots of requests which when I do profiles I leave to build up into a show and then try to theme some of them. It often works.
Tomorrow night, the 26th September, the last show will be a collection of music made famous by Schottish, Irish and Welsh bands and artists.
There isn't enough time to cover all the bands in the UK? Of course there isn't, but we tried. If you would like to hear a track from a band where you come from, log on and request a couple of days before the show.
On the 19th from 6-7pm we went North West and North East via Manchester
Sept 12th from 6-8pm there was music from bands who came from The Midlands, North, South, East and West - including The Move, Trapeze and Ten Years After and Led Zeppelin.
On September 5th The Madalyn Morgan Show covered 60s and 70s bands who originated from London.
I opened my show on August 15th with a tribute to one of THE greatest artists of our time, Elvis Presley, who died 30 years ago in 1977 aged 42. August 16th, was the 30th anniversary of the death of the only performer to have been inducted into 4 separate music 'Halls of Fame' Elvis; "The King of Rock 'n' Roll" or simply "The King".
Tribute to Pirate Radio and in particular RADIO CAROLINE. The 40th anniversary of the day that the government closed down the offshore 'pirate' radio stations. August 14th 1967 has gone down in history as 'the day the music died'. The 'official tune' of RADIO CAROLINE was 'Caroline' by 60s band The Fortunes. Radio Caroline survived the seizure and arrest of her ships, drifting, grounding, sinking and even an officially sanctioned armed raid! But then the Government passed a law which ended the type of radio that my generation was brought up with.
The last record played by Radio Caroline was 'A Day In The Life' by The Beatles. I played the track as my penultimate track. I closed my show with 'We Love The Pirate Stations' which was released on RADIO CAROLINE'S own label and recorded by members of The Ivy League under the name of 'The Roaring Sixties'. It was widely played during the final days of pirate radio in 1967. However, under the terms of The Marine and Broadcasting (Offences) Act of 1967, it has been technically illegal to play 'We Love The Pirate Station's' anywhere in Britain inside territorial waters since 14th August 1967 as it was said to 'PROMOTE THE CAUSE' of PIRATE STATIONS.
From the first record played - The Animals and 'We Gotta Get Out Of This Place' to Billy Fury and 'Halfway To Paradise' and from Eddie Cochran's 'Summertime Blues' to the Nashville Teens and 'Tobacco Road' as well as The Kinks 'Waterloo Sunset' and Manfred Mann's 'Do Wah Diddy Diddy'.
On Wednesday 18th July at 6pm Madalyn played music from some of the bands that appeared on The Live Earth Concert, as well as featuring Prince's new 'FREE' album 'Planet Earth.'

Wednesday 25th July, will cover the long awaited last part of 'The Seven Ages of Rock' featuring REM who were very much part of the rise of alternative rock in the USA. And, on this side of the pond, there'll be music from The Smiths, the archetypal indie group, the dark and sensual Suede, Brit-pop's Blur and Oasis, and if there's time, The Libertines and Franz Ferdinand. But watch this space because this weekend it's The Glades Festival, so the programme on the 25th might change!

Last week we celebrated the 40th anniversary, of The Beatles, Sgt. Pepper's Album. 40 years ago on June 1st Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band was released in the UK - 2nd of June in the US. Also last week it was the 39th birthday of Noel Gallagher of OASIS. How weird is that? That Noel Gallagher was born at the same time, all be it a year later, as the Beatles most famous album. Is it any wonder then, that The Beatles were such a big influence on OASIS lyricist, Noel Gallagher.
Wednesday, June 6th I'll be playing music from the first 2 ages of "THE SEVEN AGES OF ROCK" including Jimi Hendrix, Velvet Underground, Pink Floyd & David Bowie.
As well as great music from 60s bands Manfred Mann, The Eagles & The Byrds, and 70s bands Deep Purple, Led Zeppelin & Bruce Springsteen, there's profiles and news about who's doing what, when and where. And, we still have to make time to finish profiling Bob Dylan.
As part of her show on Wednesday 9th May, Madalyn profiled one of rock's most intellectual wordsmiths, Morrissey, front man of 80s band The Smiths. She played music from artists and bands who had influenced Morrissey, as well as bands who were influenced by him.
The theme of April 25's show was literature and the influence it has had on rock music through the last five decades; how the written word, no matter the genre, influenced the lyrics of rock bands, musicians and artists like The Byrds, The Eagles, Bob Dylan, John Lennon, The Smiths, Manic Street Preachers and many more.
Madalyn was joined by writer Rishi Dastidar. Rishi is an advertising copywriter, part-time blogger and member of the business writing group 26. He is as obsessed by words as he is by music. So he joined Madalyn to play and talk about music that deals with the interplay and sound of words and literature. Find out more about his exercises in the higher banter at

On Wednesday morning of April 18, at 11 o'clock Madalyn interviewed the actress Prunella Scales, and the Labour MP for Battersea, Balham and Wandsworth, Martin Linton. The topic was the Battersea Arts Centre and how its closure, after 25 years, would affect local theatre goers and schools in and around Battersea. The BAC benefits more than 3,500 children in Battersea schools as well as many people who simply want to see good theatre at affordable prices.
